Inaugural $5,000 #PILOTINA Scholarship

A scholarship dedicated to Young Latinas interested in the aviation and aerospace industry.
Just like you, pioneering Latina pilots — such as Olga E. Custodio, a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force and an American Airlines captain, and Yasmine Abu Arab, a certified flight instructor, and others – all had a dream to be in the aerospace or aviation industries. They succeeded, and so can you.

If you win, this scholarship could help jump start your career as a pilot, aeronautical engineer A & P Mechanic, air traffic controller, accident investigator, as a captain at a major airline and even to pursue your dream of becoming an astronaut. You could be among the expanding ranks of Latinas who can make a positive impact on the future of the aerospace and aviation industries. You could contribute your talent and skills to a global industry and help other Latinas to see that the sky is no limit to their dreams.

Applicants for the #PILOTINA Scholarship must be Latinas residing within the United States, ages 18-25. Applicants must be enrolled in university, pursing a STEM degree seeking to enter the aerospace industry, or be pursuing aviation. Person does not need to be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to be considered eligible. They must be enrolled in a university pursuing a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) degree and be pursuing a career in the aviation or aerospace industries.
Applicants must complete the form below, provide a 1 to 2-minute video and a descriptive essay on why you want to win the #PILOTINA Scholarship. Include what motivated you to pursue the aviation or aerospace industry; provide your short-term, mid-term and long-range goals; and explain how the scholarship will help you achieve your objective.
One winner will be announced in January 2021, selected by a panel of judges. All information will be verified and funds will be disbursed to the college or university where the winner is enrolled.
The winner will receive $5,000!
The proceeds of the Latinas in Aviation bulk book sales will be applied to this scholarship fund.
